Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and name. We do not store passwords — authentication is handled entirely by Clerk.

Resume & Career Content

We store the resumes, job descriptions, cover letters, and generated documents you create within CareerKit. This content is private to your account and never shared with other users or third parties.

Usage Data

We collect information about how you use CareerKit — features accessed, pages visited, and actions taken — to improve the product.

Payment Information

We do not collect or store your payment details. All billing is processed by Razorpay. We only store your subscription tier and status.

To provide the service

Your resume and job description content is used solely to generate AI-powered analyses, cover letters, and resumes on your behalf.

To improve CareerKit

Anonymised usage patterns help us understand which features are most valuable. We do not use your personal career documents for this purpose.

To communicate with you

We may send transactional emails related to your account or subscription. We do not send unsolicited marketing emails.

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored in a secure database with row-level security — logically isolated and only accessible by your authenticated account.

Security measures

All API routes are protected by authentication and server-side rate limiting. We use HTTPS for all data in transit.

Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Services we use

CareerKit uses Clerk (authentication), Razorpay (payments), OpenAI (AI processing), and PostHog (analytics). Each has their own privacy policy.

AI processing

Your resume and job description content is sent to OpenAI's API for processing. OpenAI does not use API-submitted data to train their models by default.

No data selling

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or career documents to any third party, ever.

Access and portability

You can export your generated resumes and cover letters at any time from within the app.

Deletion

You can delete individual documents from your account at any time. To delete your entire account and all associated data, contact us at privacy@careerkit.in.
